All-Candidates Meeting on Reconciliation in Oak Bay Sept. 18

What may be this fall’s only all-candidates meeting focused on reconciliation in Greater Victoria is being held for the mayor and candidates for councillor in Oak Bay.
ReconciliACTION Oak Bay, a community network of Oak Bay-based organizations committed to advancing reconciliation in its community is hosting an all-candidates meeting:

Moderator: Gregor Craigie, host of CBC Victoria’s On The Island
Welcome: Murray Rankin, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation/MLA Oak Bay-Gordon Head on the role of local governments in reconciliation.
The meeting will also be live streamed through the ReconciliACTION Oak Bay Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/reconciliactionoakbay). A recording of the meeting will be available at the same location soon after.
“We want to ensure that voters in Oak Bay have the opportunity to evaluate the experience, understanding and commitment to advancing truth and reconciliation of any office-holders or candidates for local office,” says ReconciliACTION Oak Bay spokesperson Bruce Kilpatrick. “It’s a high priority for many Oak Bay residents.”
ReconciliACTION Oak Bay’s member organizations are: the Community Association of Oak Bay, Oak Bay United Church, St. Mary’s Anglican Church, the Oak Bay Heritage Foundation and the UVic Living Lab Project.
